Here’s tonight’s hostess club layout. Unfortunately due to very bad weather I postponed our meeting until Sunday at 2. This layout was inspired by Jen Arkfeld’s beautiful card I showed a few days ago. As promised I have some tips for you! So scroll past the recipe and I’ll share what I did.
STAMP SET: Flower Patch
CARD STOCK: Crumb Cake 12” x 12”
Newsprint 12” x 12” Very Vanilla 8-1/2” x 11” (cut in 1/2)
Island Indigo scrap
INK: Crumb Cake Marina Mist VersaMark
Hello Honey Crisp Cantaloupe Calypso Coral
Wild Wasabi Garden Green
ACCESSORIES: Flower Framelits Sequins
7/8” Scallop Circle Punch Heat Gun
Mini Scallop Punch Heat & Stick Powder
Dazzling Diamonds Water
Pool Party Embossing Powder Sponge Dauber
Thick Bakers Twine 3 colors 12” each
Sponges
DIRECTIONS:
1. Tear edges on two sides of newsprint.
2. Stamp leaves with Wild Wasabi and inside with Garden Green.
3. Use sponge dauber to ink edges.
4. Lightly spritz newsprint with water and wade up wrinkling paper, then sponge wrinkles with Crumb Cake. Smooth out and let dry.
5. Stamp 3 lg. flowers & 3 med. flowers in Marina Mist and cut out with framelits.
6.Stamp flower center 3 times with versaMark on Island Indigo. Emboss with Pool Party embossing powder. Punch with scallop punch.
7.Stamp medium flowers in Hello Honey stamping off 1st. After cutting out stamp center with VersaMark-sprinkle with heat and stick powder–heat and sprinkle with Dazzling Diamonds and heat again.
8. Stamp 5 “star” flowers in crisp Cantaloupe & center in Calypso Coral and centers.
9. Use dimensionals sparingly.
10. Make bows out of thick bakers twine and use a glue dot to stick it under the flower. After placing flowers, stamp small centers and add sequins.
TIP: Stamp whatever you are going to stamp BEFORE you spritz and crumple your paper or cardstock. Otherwise you won’t get a good stamped image!
TIP: Spritz DSP (designer paper) lightly. You don’t want to soak the paper. Wad it up to get wrinkles and then use hands to smooth it out to dry.
TIP: When cutting multiple images, I like to use 2 or more of the framelits to cut down on time. Here is an example of how to stamp your paper. Also, since the flower is not the same all the way around, I placed a black dot on the stamp and the same place on the framelit. When stamping, position the dot on the bottom edge of the cardstock. It makes it alot easier and faster!

This way you can cut out 1 leaf & 2 different flowers
with the Big Shot at the same time! |
TIP: I saw this tip on splitcoaststampers.com. Take a wooden skewer and place a dot of Chrystal Effects on the end. Let it dry and use it to pick up small items like sequins or small pieces of paper!
Happy stampin’,
~Laura
